Welcome Message | ZeniMax Online Offices | Staff Profiles
Matt Firor
Matt's first online game development project was in 1988 when he and a group of friends licensed the multi-user phone-in BBS game Sceptre of Goth. This project ended in spectacular and financial failure, but gave him the bug to make online roleplaying games. This led to his role as one of the founders of Mythic Entertainment, where he was Vice President of Product Development as well as producer on the #1 worldwide smash hit MMORPG, Dark Age of Camelot.
Over his eleven years at Mythic, Matt produced almost every one of their titles, all of which were online. He left Mythic in 2006 and founded ZeniMax Online Studios in June 2007 with the goal of leading the team making the next big massive online game.

What was the first computer game you worked on?
I got my first computer in 1980, a TRS-80 Color Computer. Soon after, I wrote my first adventure game, in BASIC of course, using the CoCo's built in graphics. It was terrible of course, but I was hooked on games. In High School a few years later, my girlfriend at the time and I wrote an educational game on the Apple II that tied into a reading program at the local elementary school that was used for a few years.
First computer gaming "moment"?
When I played Wizardry, no question about that. Even with the primitive graphics, I got into the game to such a degree that I think I could still walk through all ten levels of that dungeon, and of course I remember all the names of my adventuring party.
Dr. Evil or Austin Powers?
Scott Evil, actually. Much more pragmatic, feet firmly on the floor, etc.
